I posted previously about my inspiration and it is still going that direction with a lot of black and white. What were to be neutral walls with a mint ceiling color has now turned into an entire room of what appeared to be mint on the paint sample and is now more of a darkened hospital green that has aged since 1940. I'm keeping it because I refuse to put John through the process of painting the walls and ceiling again and the main reason is it took hours out of our weekend where I did not have his assistance. I'm not necessarily concerned about the labor that was involved. Do not be mistaken.
Art work was stumping me. I have visions in my head but do not have the time to execute so I turned to Etsy. Who can't find something fun on there?! This Etsy shop had exactly the look I was going for. I ordered three prints that fit in with the bedding my lovely Momma is making and I can easily swing one gender or another once we know what this baby has decided to be! Also, who can resist animals dressed in one form or another of human clothes and accessories?? I had a very very hard time narrowing the prints down to three.
These will be framed in large gold frames with wide cream mats. A couple over the dresser/changing station and the third I'm hanging over a built-in bookshelf that has shallow shelves hard to outfit with anything but tiny items. The other set of built-ins are more conducive to books and other decorative items.
I wanted to bring in a pop of red in the window treatments but now that I have pea green walls I am rethinking that approach. Also really glad I didn't order the yellow patterned rug I had in my cart for weeks.... looks like the window treatment might be more neutral along with the fabric for the ottoman. Ann's upholstered rocker will be moved to baby's room and it is a cream plush fabric so saving money there! I also now have an excuse to buy her a fun chair and dresser since I am swiping both items from her room.
I'm so glad I have more direction on the nursery and the walls will not be empty when baby arrives. A lot of things I am holding off on so I can customize once we know who this tiny human is and what the name will be.
