With all of that said John has strongly encouraged (threatened) me to make a decision on our breakfast table and chair situation. Below is how we are currently set up. Do not be alarmed, my table is not typically set for a dinner party of six. But right now my table has markers, coloring books and laundry sitting on it so I thought this better represented the breakfast area and how we potentially will use it in addition to the day to day stuff.
So the above is a beautiful antique oak pub table that my parents had and have been letting us use. It is shown here with both leaves pulled out otherwise we have the leaves in and it seats 4. The settee and wooden chairs are the standard and I pull the lucite chairs in for extra seating. The rug I love and although I do not HAVE to use it I've been trying to find fabric to go with it. I may have to roll it up and give it back to my Mom though because as much as I love the colors and the coral it is causing me many headaches when looking at fabric options.
Since the potential table and chairs I'm deciding between are in our garage stacked under other goodies I only have the below to show you.
My mother in law found this set for me in Russellville on the side of the road. She is wonderful at discovering flea market items I could use and I'm sure John appreciates every single thing that has been sent our way! He doesn't... but he should. She is saving him mucho money! The table is the same metal base as the chairs with a round glass table top. I LOVE IT. I also love the yellow leather but since John described it as "worn" I haven't been able to get past it and agree we should go ahead and recover them.
I haven't found leather that 1. I can afford and 2. isn't hideous so I'm looking at laminated fabrics. I have never used a laminated fabric but hope that it will give me the look of upholstery with the ease of wiping up the kiddo mess and the spilled wine that likely will occur in a kitchen environment.
This is a budget project friends so my options are limited in fabric choices. Here are some I am considering and all can be found on fabrics.com.
Above would not allow me to use my rug and I'm almost fine with not having a rug in this room although I love a nice rug under a dining table...
I think I could still use the rug with the above pattern. Loving that it truly incorporates all colors currently used on this floor of our home into one pattern and is a modern twist.
I love navy blue. I can't help it and it creeps up no matter what direction I am trying to take a room to. Also, the green and turquoise pull from the adjacent dining room and the pink pulls from the living room. This is fun, should hide some sins and adds much needed color to our bland boring kitchen.
Then we come to this. I love this so much!! It has my turquoise and green. It has a neutral base and it pulls in pink and red (which I've struggled to incorporate into my color scheme so far). Plus, does it not scream kitchen to you?! If this isn't the perfect "Oil Cloth" then I don't know what is.
I need feedback!! Tell me what your favorite is! Also, share whether you think I should keep the wooden table set up or go with the glass round table and 4 chairs. I love both looks and there are benefits to both. Glass is easier to wipe down... round is more space friendly....round table and chairs add a fun look to the kitchen versus the more traditional wooden table and chairs and so on.
Go!

I like the last option for the pattern and the wooden table!
