I'm fine with that.
John left for a weekend of duck hunting with his family. An actually overdue weekend away doing what he loves. I do not begrudge him these things but I will honestly say I was very nervous last week anticipating my weekend alone with Ann. I haven't kept her all by myself since she was very tiny and let's be honest... keeping a 2 month old is quite different from keeping a 15 month old. The last time I did it I was allowed to strap her into a chair and prance around the house gettin my shizzle done while she dozes and drinks bottles. Not technically allowed when the toddler is mobile and supposed to be weaned from the bottle (I'm working on it folks... don't judge).
Oh my GOODNESS I cannot figure out how to get the picture rotated on here... it's rotated in the picture file.... bear with my terrible iphone pictures and my obvious ignorance on how to rotate internally on here.
So, Ann and I snuggling and enjoying a bottle. She only has them before bed so get over it. By the way, I'm now annoyingly flustered that I cannot get the picture to rotate. Tell me how bloggers. Help. Me.
Ann in her new pajamas that Daddy brought home from Sams Club. We shop in high dollar boutiques ya'll. So John pulls them out and says "Look what I got Ann!!" I'm like "Wow! She needs fleece jammies but sweetie... those are little boy jammies?" John says "No they aren't! You should have SEEN the boy pajamas." So now I'm explaining that just because they have two styles does not mean they one is a boy style and one is a girl style... these are indeed boy pajamas but Ann will not care. He purchased them because they have dogs on the feet and Ann thinks any and all dogs are hilarious. I then saw, the next day, multiple baby boys on Facebook sporting these Sams pajamas. Moms, I know where you shop now... and I support you. (If we ever have a son, should I buy girl clothes and dress him in them and see if John is able to differentiate between female and male attire?)
A sneaky shot of Ann actually playing with a baby doll. She did this for a long time and was so mad and frustrated that the sweater did not go on the doll's head. I tried to show her... and she pushed me away and screamed. Wow... serious independence issues at age 14 flashed before my eyes.
This was not over the weekend but shows what we have to do to entertain this child and keep her from engaging in meltdowns. Prior to this Ann was having an uncontrollable meltdown because her teeth were hurting her. She is shirtless, sucking on an icepop and thanking her lucky stars that her Daddy and Tara can distract her from the pain.
All in all our weekend together was a hit! Friday night I cooked a birthday meal for my Mom at my house. My parents came over and enjoyed a delicious meal that I did not screw up and played with the ever entertaining grandbaby. Saturday was my Mom's actual birthday so we went to Bordino's for lunch and enjoyed an afternoon of antiquing.
Should I buy it??? $100.00 and super long... would use it in front of a chocolate velvet covered sectional... say yes.
The ends collapse and it is leather topped and in pristine condition. I am obligated to buy this, right?
Back to our weekend... Ann decided to wake up screaming at 1:00 am Sunday morning which caused me to toss her in bed with me. That worked, for like 20 minutes. I spent the rest of the night awake and praying that John surprised us (ME) at 7:00 am with donuts, coffee and a hotel room key. That didn't happen but luckily Ann only wanted to snuggle the entire day and nap with me. I couldn't have asked for a better Sunday! Poor munchkin has a terrible cold and is hoarse. Which is adorable and concerning at the same time (the raspy voice, not the horrendous cough and green snot). Doctor will be visited this week to avoid disastrous ear infections next week.
