Decorating With Sherpa

Y'all.... does anyone else love "fur" as much as I do?  If you've been in my house you know I'm working with deer on the wall and mounted ducks on the bookshelves... I'm married to a hunter.  He does not have a "man room" (I refuse to call it a cave... he doesn't have a cave either) or an "office".  I gave in at the beginning of our marriage and let him hang his things around the house.... well now it would just be rude to take them down.  Right?  Say no...

So, I decorate around those things and that means combining rustic with antiques and what I like to describe as my eclectic taste.  I'm not afraid to mix styles and try new things.  I make a lot of mistakes and try to learn from them.  So, when you see pictures of my house you'll also see those mistakes and maybe you can learn from them too!

One of my favorite looks right now is Sherpa.  I realized I had a few items of this nature without even trying and I'm seeing it pop up on design blogs and in magazines and thought, well well well I was doing it without even realizing it!

Here are some examples from my house:  Do not let the professional photography intimidate you...

This is Ann's spot.  She loves it.  I love it and John loves it.  Who wouldn't love a beanbag?!  It is supposed to go upstairs but as you can see... it's downstairs in all its' glory.

Never underestimate the placement of small throw blankets.  You shouldn't have to look too far for a blanket to snuggle with!

And Ann's room.  We love this rug and I love some of the ways I've seen them used!

I found my rug at Target online last year and the beanbag is from Pottery Barn Kids.  If your room seems flat or one dimensional, adding a texture can make a huge impact.  Don't be afraid of something unexpected!
