My First (sort of) Mother's Day

Well everyone (John) considered this my first Mother's Day.  I considered it like my 5th but officially my 2nd.  It was my fifth because I have been a wonderful mother to my first baby that has a lot of fur Tara and it's my official 2nd because I think carrying a baby is one of the most important responsibilities a mother has and I was certainly pregnant last Mother's Day!!  Do I have to capitalize that every time?

Anyway, I would say this was an amazing weekend and all thanks to my amazing husband and baby Daddy.  If you call someone your baby Daddy do you capitalize both Baby and Daddy or just Daddy?  These proper nouns or are they are killin' me!  Focus.  John, husband, father, baby daddy and ultimate patient good unselfish and generous Teeter is perfect and I can't ask for a better all of the above.  I'm talking like it's Father's Day and I am so excited to honor him next month!!  No, I really am!  He deserves it.

He let me sleep in both mornings and Ann was quite determined that would not happen for anyone in the house so for him to make it happen is quite the accomplishment.  I haven't slept that late or that good since before he knocked me up.... (pregnancy equals insomnia from day one).  Then I wake up to doughnuts from our local shop and he didn't even get himself some, which should have made me feel guilty and like a fatty but this breast feeding gig is the most amazing diet and I have lost all my baby weight and more so I am gorging myself on food items that will only make me gain it back... smart girl that I am.  He loves me chubby or skinny so I am giving him a taste of both.  Lucky boy.  Anyway, the rest of the day was a play date with Ann while John conquered yard work and smoked meat on the grill.  Then a last minute invite to Doug and Mary Beth's house for dinner was a fun surprise and topped off Saturday evening perfectly!!

Sunday morning I slept in while John and Ann snuggled on the couch to cartoons then we went to church with my parents and Doug and MB.  It was a great service and the message was perfect for where we are right now.  That could be another whole post but let's just say we need to be less selfish with the blessings God has given us because he didn't give them to us to hoard he means for us to be as generous with others as he has been with us.  We followed that with a wonderful brunch with my parents at the country club.  Ann was such a big girl at the table and nosied up on other people's tables while we enjoyed yummy food and each other.

Here are some pictures from our weekend:

She gives her toys snuggles.  Spreadin' the love around.
We meant to take a nice family picture together Sunday but by the time we remembered Ann had passed out.... so here is the sad iphone pic.
The ONLY picture Ann and I have together on Mother's Day.  Ah well.

Ann and I napped on the couch together but she wasn't quite ready to get up when I was.  Pillow barrier is sooooo safe.... ?
John asked me to change Ann's diaper, so he brought her upstairs to me.  I took a peek and said "Ann doesn't need her diaper changed...." and scooped her up to go downstairs.  Clearly missing the present waiting for me on her wipes container.... poor John, he tries to surprise me and I always mess it up.  So of course he hands it to me and I ask "for me????" Ummm, yeah.  Who else would this little blue box be for on a day honoring mothers.  Then I start crying.  Gorgeous diamond earrings set in an art deco style.  Not leaving my ears for awhile I'm sure.  He knows what I like!!
John left my present on Ann's bottom wipe container... good move.  Sure to see it there.

After brunch, my Mom and Dad kept Ann so John and I could go fishing for the afternoon.  Well it rained on us... so we took cover under this bluff.  I didn't mind, better fishing!  John will be mad that this hat is on the world wide web but I think it's quite the fishing hat.  Lookin' good baby daddy!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend honoring their mothers or being honored!!  Sharing a delicious strawberry pie recipe this week... get your sweetened condensed milk ready!
