Ann Phone Pic Overload

I've taken quite a step in my vow to take less phone pictures and more Mom camera pictures.  I actually bring my camera with me to most places.  Now, I need to take it out of the camera bag, put the appropriate lens on it and turn the wonderful thing on!  Then, I can take the step of actually snapping photos.  All in good time my friends.  Actually having the camera with me has taken a few brain cells.

Therefore, Ann's day to day activities are still captured via cell phone.  She is learning to say "no" to the phone pictures and refuses to smile for me.  I have to trick her into smiling.  That usually involves me asking here where her arm pits are or do her toes smell bad.  Arm pits are super funny, especially when she tries to point out other people's arm pits.  She figured out her stuffed monkey has arm pits and it is the best thing ever.

We have had a relaxing enjoyable week or so that did not involve me frantically cleaning the house, preparing food for hosting something (I enjoy hosting but let myself stress to the point of John gently steering Ann away from me and into a neutral zone of the house) and/or other people in general.  We have greatly needed family time with just the three (technically four) of us and it has been taken full advantage of.  I sweetly told John to turn down any and all fun activities thrown his way and he has, to his satisfaction I dare say.

We bought Ann a water table.  I insisted as it has allowed me to look at magazines in the sunshine on the deck.  Water flowers without direct assistance.  Paint my toenails.  Ann calls it her "shower".  "My shower? My Shower?  My SHOWER??!"  No Ann, it is 5:30 am and I do not want to go outside, sit next to you while you dump buckets of water on yourself and me showering your baby and her friends.

Ann thought she was on her way to a music festival.  Romper, low pony, sandals, large sunglasses.  Check, check and check.

Ann's hair is quite long.  Especially when she lets me brush it out completely without screaming and ripping the hairbrush out of my hand and throwing it back at me.  I'm not exaggerating in the least.  This does not go unpunished.  We have temper issues throughout the female side of our family... I'm working on curbing hers early.

John has a strict house rule that we only eat in the kitchen or outside.  We ignore it when he isn't home.  Something about new carpet, new furniture, a toddler, monkeys, milk stains... I don't know.  Therefore I ignore him and we eat yummy fruit, crackers, spreadable cheeses, summer sausage and various forms of drink in our living room when he isn't around.  Bad thing is when he comes home early and catches us.  That is what our pet monkey is for.  Complete blame.

Ann braved the ball pit for the first time.  It was, for a moment, a scene from a war zone with children on all sides of the pit hurling balls at high speeds to one another.  John and I screaming "watch the baby!!  There is a BABY present" did not seem to phase them.  We went back in the pit as the cake and soft drinks were being served.  Peace and time to adjust = love of ball pit

John and I also took an entire Memorial Day weekend to ourselves with friends at the river house.  It was glorious!!!!  Perfect weather.  Perfect water.  Not so great fishing but we did catch a few.  The only downside, and if you know me you know I enjoy a beer or toddy while on the water, is that pink lemonade just doesn't cut it.  In case you didn't read my last post in the past 3 months I am pregnant.  AKA alcohol free until November.  That requires me to eat mass amounts of pringles and sour candy while floating instead of beer.  Just swapping the type of calories, right?

Rule is you can't smile when you're taking a "look what I caught" picture.  John manages to not smile every. single. time.  I have a professional guide for a husband.  Fly fishing, small mouth bass, any kind of hunting...  He is not taking new clients.
