Examples of things I can get away with now:
- Demanding food of any kind at any hour - John goes and gets it! For example: I went to the store last night and bought groceries for a weeks worth of meals I planned. Got home and realized I didn't want ANY of those dinners last night and I wanted nachos. I didn't buy anything to make nachos with so John went to the store and purchased the ingredients. What a husband he is! I ate almost a whole 9x13 casserole dish of nachos and selfishly told John that I wasn't sharing except for the small corner of the dish allocated to him. He was fine with it. He also let me eat the last ice-cream cone out of the freezer....
- Shopping - I've successfully convinced John I need an entire new wardrobe (I technically do because I eat casserole dishes of nachos, easter candy like I'll never see it again, anything in the frozen foods section, sonic bacon cheeseburgers... you get the picture) So anyways if I send him a pouty message or make a comment that nothing fits and I let my bottom lip quiver he says well why don't you go get something to wear!.... then I pull out whatever I purchased that week that I felt kind of guilty buying and put it on.
- Sleep whenever I want. If I take two naps in one day he doesn't say anything. If I want to nap instead of do laundry or clean the house he says sure! He doesn't do the work for me but doesn't complain when our house gets awful after 3 weeks of no dusting or towel washing and then I eventually get to it because I can only sleep, eat and shop so much. I also go to bed around 7:30 most nights.... on the couch but still a deep sleep until he wakes me up for what used to be our bedtime.
- Can I mention again that I literally get to eat whatever I want as long as it is in Fayetteville and obtainable? For those of you who know me you know that food has always been a very important part of my day and is even MORE important now.
Can I confess something? I'm wearing $20.00 jeggings to work today.... got them on and they look as tacky as I feared they would. I've always dressed nice for work and taken pride in my outfits but this morning? Nope, out came my cheap jeggings and out came a top that is questionably short for them and a cardigan sweater and flats... but it's ok because no one can say anything to me about it :). Actually they can and probably should but I literally have two pairs of pants I can wear and one is jeggings... the other pair I've worn 3 days this week and they really need to visit the washing machine or dry cleaners. It's too cold for dresses yet but believe me when it warms up these legs that are showing every bit of the 10 pounds I've gained will be out in full force with a spray tan and a large tent dress and very tall wedges to make me feel more attractive. Where did Nicole Ritchie shop when she was pregnant? She always had on fabulous cotton flowy dresses with perfect sandles, a scarf and vintage sunglasses. Why can't someone here carry those things and why can't I wear that to work?! Oh they do carry cute clothes but they don't accomodate for a growing booty and belly. Online isn't very reliable when you need something that you have no idea how to size... I'm in the awkward stage of not needing maternity pants but not wanting to buy something two sizes up just to need maternity pants in a month. What to do? Throw those jeggings on and tell anyone looking to be quiet and get me an icecream cone.
I now see why John didn't want me to share this via blog. I didn't gracefully discuss the Baby or how pregnancy completely agrees with me and I'm just glowing and motivated to get up everyday and live to the fullest and get our home ready for this little Baby to live in.... I instead discussed how much I eat, how much weight I've gained, how much I sleep and how little I clean our house. Classy information.
We will be in our 16th week this weekend and everything looks healthy and wonderful so far :). We are very excited and I really cannot believe that John and I decided we are adult enough to raise a little Baby. Did we have that discussion after two bottles of wine?? Did I mention that I sniff people's wine because I can't have any? I do... it's a terrible thing to do but it helps me...
Things I miss:
Wine
Coffee
Sushi
Hot Dogs
Being skinny
Cold frosty mug beer
Boursin cheese
Goat cheese
crawfish
I would post a picture of Baby up but John put his foot down on sharing pictures of our Baby on facebook or any other internet forum. Hopefully he will change his mind once Baby is here because why else are you on facebook other than to share pictures of your little one with friends and family?! No one cares what I'm doing but I know everyone will be super interested in what Baby is doing... just like everyone is super interested in what Tara and Bernie are up to. I'll post about them next, they are extra cute today.
Not every post will be Baby related either... also now you know why I've been so lazy and haven't cooked, decorated or anything else productive. I'll try to not write a mile long post without pictures next time.
Congrats on the baby news. You will make a fabulous mother! In response to your Nicole Richie question- she actually has a clothing line for a Pea in the Pod. Their stuff is a bit pricey. I spent a lot on nice jeans, but it is worth the cost when you feel good about yourself. I LOVED my Michael Stars maternity tees- so comfortable and flattering.
ReplyDeleteSplurge on a maternity photo shoot.
Two books that I loved were:
Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy- read while pregnant and The Moms on Call Basic Guide to Baby Care- after the baby arrives. This book was my go-to for a lot of new mommy questions.
A huge congrats!!
