Progress Being Made

I see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I have no clue where this tunnel is going and what will be on the other side but I know what I am hoping for and my hope is that the tunnel ends between Thanksgiving and Christmas with a Pod, a ton of packed boxes and a sold house as well as a purchased house.  The light I am seeing is a new house under contract and interest in our humble house that we reside in.  Now, whether that is the tunnel I am driving through right now or not is to be determined but it is the tunnel I veered into with the understanding that it would come to an end in the near future and led to the above.  Hopefully my map was correct and I didn't veer off into the unknown toting a baby, two dogs and a husband with me.

In case you got super annoyed and skipped over the first paragraph we have a house under contract and we have an interested party in our house!  Whoop whoop PRAHHHHGRESSSSSS.  Now, serious progress will be an offer on our house that I expect to receive tomorrow.  Hopefully that offer is reasonable and not the low ball slap in the face I'm half expecting it to be.

I've been working on the art of patience for years and more so during this process than I thought I would have to.  My initial thought when John gave me the "go ahead" to officially stalk houses was "I get to finally pick a house on the market, purchase it and live in it!!!!".  Little did I know that all of those fabulous houses that have been for sale in Fayetteville the past 2 years were sold, for cheap, and nothing nearly as interesting and reasonable was on the market or will be placed on the market within our timeline.  So, that is how we came about this fixer upper that I am super excited about, kind of scared, worried that we have gotten ourselves into something over our head and ready to make my own (our own... sort of).  Here is where patience will come into play again and for a long period of time; we cannot tackle everything we want to right off the bat.  Not many people can and where's the fun in buying a fixer upper only to do it all up front and move in picture perfect?  ugh... that sounds amazing but no.  We will do this in stages probably over the next 5 years or so.  Hopefully done in 5 years.  John, 5 years, right?  He doesn't read this... I'm saying remodeled house in 5.

This is a yucky mid February picture of the house.  Nothing photographs well in the dead of winter... get yourself an updated summer picture realtor!  Also, I've realized this house just does not photograph well in general.  Kind of like me... I'd like to think I am much better in person than I am in  pictures.  That is why no one else would even go look at the thing and we got it for a steal... not.  I'm pretty sure we are the only people who showed serious interest in it since the February listing.

One little discussion we had last night was our hope that we get a lot of snow this winter like the winter before last.  We have the PERFECT front yard for sledding!  Like, it's perfect and the neighborhood children will be lining up for a turn.  I'll have hot chocolate, homemade cookies and a snowman building contest to judge.  Ann cannot wait to share her yard with everyone.  The backyard is fun too, especially after we get our paws on it.

So, if I haven't already said this to you ten times in person.... if you know of anyone looking for a great small house (bungalow if you will) close to campus then give me a shout!!  We have loved living in our house and seriously the only reason we are leaving it is the size...we just can't fit one more person, fur baby or fabulous pair of shoes in the darn thing.

Ok, it's way cuter inside.  I've always had a "hard time" liking the exterior but if I could get you inside you'd l u v it.  We are so cozy!
